Hector thinks of himself as a reasonable, logical necromancer person in a superstitious world. In reality, he is childish, and lacks understanding about the nuance of human interaction, preferring to relate everything into terms he can better understand- the natural world. He loves animals and used to literally raise pets; how you treat his dog will shape how he views you.

Hector is a reactionary character, lacking ambition in every aspect except for his 'work'- forging new creatures or raising dead ones. When left to his own devices, he isolates himself from people and surrounds himself with undead animals; when someone he trusts (or who knows how to manipulate him well) tells him what to do, he complies, without much examination into his actions.

There is a lot of cognitive dissonance going on in Hector. He disdains humanity, but doesn't want to cause suffering. He creates an army to help Dracula take over the world, but lets himself believe it is for the greater good in spite of the growing evidence that it is not. He won't take direct action to harm someone unless they first threaten him, but by creating the army that ravages Wallachia, his body count is countless.

In terms of his interactions with others, Hector is frank and can be sarcastic. For those few people he respects, he is willing to share his thoughts and trust in their judgement above his own common sense. For everyone else, they get sarcasm and sass. Hector is usually willing to talk about his work, but otherwise, he'd much rather ignore others. He is an introvert with trust issues, but in his isolation, he still thirsts for approval and direction, which is why he follows first Dracula, and then briefly Carmilla.

HISTORY
Hector was the son of an alchemist, who wanted his son to follow in his pursuit of wealth and power. Hector used his innate magical powers to raise dead animals and bring them home as pets. This horrified both of his parents, who (re)killed the animals and beat Hector. As they traveled for his father's work, Hector was also rejected by locals as well, who could sense something off about him.

When he was still a child, Hector locked the doors to his house and burned it down while his parents were still inside so that he could run away unpursued. He traveled and studied his craft, and settled in the east of Rhodes, where he lived in seclusion.

While traveling the world as men do, Dracula heard about a necromancer living in Rhodes and sought him out. He and Hector bonded over magical theory, and Dracula became the first person to ever see the potential of Hector's work, which won Hector's loyalty. When Dracula returned to Wallachia to find his wife had been burned as a witch, he returned to Hector to ask for his help in creating an army to enact his revenge. Hector insisted that the people Dracula conquered be treated 'humanely', and agreed.

Hector served as one of Dracula's two human generals during the campaign that followed. He forged creatures that could house souls from hell to replenish the dwindling number of naturally occuring night creatures. However, Dracula's madness caused Hector to question the plan, leaving him susceptible to Carmilla's manipulation. Carmilla lured Hector into her coup d'etat, and though her plan failed due to the interference of Sypha, Trevor Belmont, and Alucard, she ended up taking Hector captive as a consolation prize.

BONDS

Everett Vaughan: Hector's fellow faun. Mentor turned lover, the first person Hector has ever truly loved. They currently live together.

Trevor Belmont: Hector's worldmate. Originally, they had a tense relationship, but after Hector became a blood donor, they shared more emotions than intended and hooked up. Now bonded with feelings???

Leslie: Temp bond. A bond of mutual convenience to make sure neither party suffers from not having a witch/monster bond. Hector is fond of Leslie, but worries that he isn't a suitable longterm solution for her.
